The Department of Linguistics was established in 1977 with the establishment of the Faculty of Vietnamese Literature (Faculty of Literature and Journalism, Faculty of Literature and Language), the Department of Linguistics has gradually developed and affirmed. the Department’s position in research and training activities and has now become a Department under the University.

After 40 years of establishment and development, up to now, Linguistics has trained an important human resource in the field of humanities at doctoral, master and bachelor’s levels, as well as contributed to providing knowledge of Linguistics in general and Vietnamese linguistics in particular to students of the whole University through basic subjects.

As the only place to train bachelor’s degree in Linguistics in the southern region, the Department of Linguistics has contributed to human resources in the southern provinces. Students of the industry are currently working in many public and private agencies, universities, colleges, high schools…; television stations, press agencies, media companies, event organizers; administrative agencies…

2. Training goals

The NNH industry aims to provide specialized knowledge and skills training at the same time. The training content of the industry includes the basic knowledge of linguistics for the application and study of the related fields, the in-depth knowledge for scientific research, the skill block related to the fields of science and technology. language issues such as newspaper writing, communication organization, language information processing, language communication, drafting of text documents, translation and interpretation skills, foreign language teaching skills.

The field of linguistics studies: Bachelor of Linguistics can progress to Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Linguistics or related disciplines to become specialized or interdisciplinary researchers at universities, institutes and research centers.
