Presenting the official unit of measure

(Issued together with Decree No. 134/2007/ND-CPAugust 15, 2007 of the Government – ​​ANNEX II)

The official units of measurement must be presented and expressed in strict accordance with the following regulations:

1. The name and symbol in a unit must be presented in the same style (the same name of the unit or the same symbol of the unit).

For example: kilometers/hour or km/h (not written: kilometer/h or km/h).

2. The unit name must be written in lowercase, in a vertical style, without capitalizing the first letter, including the unit name originating from a proper name, except for the Celsius temperature.

For example: meter, second, ampere, kelvin, pascan…

3. Unit symbol must be written in lowercase, vertical style, except for liter (L).

For example: m, s…

In case the unit name originates from a proper name, the first character in the unit symbol must be capitalized.

For example: A, K, Pa…

4. No extra element or other symbol may be added to the official unit of measure.

For example, We must not be used as the electrical power unit symbol instead of the specified symbol W.

5. When expressing units as a multiplication of two or more unit symbols, a period (.) must be used.

For example, the unit of resistive power is meter kelvin per watt, so write: mK/W (where m is the symbol for meter) to distinguish it from millikelvin per watt: mK/W (where m is the milliliter symbol of the prefix) SI)

6. When presenting units as division, use a dash (-), a slash g (/) or a negative power. H

For example: meter per second, symbol is , or m /s or ms -1. Particularly in case there are two or more unit symbols after the slash, these units must be enclosed in parentheses or converted to accumulation of the negative power.

For example: J/(kg.K); m.kg/(s3.A) or J.kg -1.K-1; m.kg.S-3.A-1.

7. When expressing the quantity value in units of measurement, both the numerical value and the unit of measurement must be fully recorded. There must be a space between these two elements.

Example: 22 m (not written: 22m or 22 m).

Note 1: When expressing the temperature unit symbol in degrees Celsius, there should be no space between the degree symbol (o) and the symbol Celsius (C).

Example: 15 oC (not written: 15oC or 15 oC).

Note 2: When presenting the flat angle unit symbol is o (degrees); ¢ (minutes); ¢¢ (second), there should be no space between the quantity values ​​and the degree symbol (o); (¢); (¢¢).

For example: 15o20¢30¢¢ (not written: 15 o20 ¢30 ¢¢ or 15 o 20 ¢ 30 ¢¢).

Note 3: When expressing the quantity value by calculations, the unit symbol must be attached to each value or after the parenthesis in common for the numerical part of the calculation.

Note 4: When representing the decimal point of the quantity value, a comma (,) must be used, not a dot k (.)
